US Gulf Coast spot Methanol was stable at
86 cents/gal in the morning of May 8, despite no interest from buyers. The price was unchanged for the third trading
session in a row, and no trades or bids were heard. According
to sources, the spot price was subdued as both supply and demand were weak. The spot
price is 26 cents below the peak of February, but it has recovered 13 cents
from its lowest point in April. US methanol imports between January
and March fell by 49.6% compared to the previous year, according to data from
the US International Trade Commission on May 8. The
