European LDPE : Material availability is still tight / Restocking begins before turnaround / Feedstock ethylene contract price rises Eur20

In the week ended July 31, there was still a shortage of low density polyethylene in Europe due to low production rates at home and limited imports. Both market sources and producers cited supply restrictions for LDPE grades on both the spot and contract markets. According to sources on the market, limited imports remained from the US and Middle East due to increased domestic demand and production problems in the Middle East. The European LDPE spot price was Eur1,240/mt FD on July 31. This is up Eur10 from the previous week. The demand for material increased as restocking activities in the upstream market of ethylene began. A producer stated that customers are looking to buy extra volumes in July and August as they anticipate higher import prices and decreased availability....
