After two days of
steep price drops, the US Gulf Coast benzene markets were quiet on May 4. After a week of
steep price drops, front-month gasoline futures have found a bottom and are
slightly higher on May 4. The price of
styrene in May rose by $40 to $1090/mt. This is in line with barge trades
reported at this level. DDP benzene in May
is stable at $339 cents/gal, and FOB benzene at $349 cents/gal. Styrene is currently more expensive than benzene due to the
recent drop in benzene and the increased styrene market. The May FOB price equals $1,045/mt. In the past, producers have considered benzene plus $50/mt
