On June 7, US Gulf spot Methanol was
assessed as stable, with a waning buying interest. A June spot methanol offer
of 80 cents/gal has been heard, but there have not been any trades or bids
recorded. One producer purchased 30,000
barrels of methanol at 75 cents/gal on the previous day. However, sources are
unsure why this producer is more active when there have been no reports about
production problems and the market has plenty of supply. A source in Trinidad and Tobago said that gas shortages
continue to affect methanol plants, but they are not having the impact expected
on the market. The source stated that the
market was becoming less sensitive to outages, which meant that production
problems were not changing the spot...
