Outright price drops nearly 3.5% in one day / NYMEX June RBOB is down 1.31 cents/gal for the day

On April 30, the NYMEX June RBOB, the underlying contract, lost 4 cents. At the end of the Market on Close process, the most competitive offer decreased from June RBOB + 13 cents/gal down to June RBOB + 6.50 cents/gal. US sellers are able to supply MTBE in large quantities, but the market is unable to maintain the current high prices due the weak demand from Mexico and the collapse of the European market. Sources said that the global MTBE markets are under pressure and US sellers must be aggressive in their pricing if they wish to sell product outside of Mexico.
