On April 10, the Asian benzene markets
mixed. The FOB Korea marker increased $7.66/mt and was $973.33/mt. CFR China
dropped $10/mt and was $978/mt. A trade was
made for May FOB Korea cargo at $975/mt. As
downstream markets continued to be challenging, there was still little interest
in the CFR China market. A broker stated that downstream
styrene monomer in China saw a drop in futures prices. Benzene was also
affected. According to plant news, Malaysia's Petronas
restarted its 250,000-mt benzene unit in Kertih state on April 3. A company
source stated April 5, while a Chinese source claimed that CNOOC will restart
its aromatics plant in Huizhou on May 15. This is after...
