Limited Restocking Seen in China / Drop in crude oil price has minimal impact on sentiment

Apr 16, 2024

The Asian MEG market offers were higher on April 15 due to the strong crude oil markets of the previous week. There was some buying in the Chinese domestic market as there were a couple of restocking needs, but sources on the market said that these were rare and few. One trader stated that these purchases were for near-term stock needs, and would not be sustained long. The price of crude oil dropped below $90/b for the day but this did not boost sentiment. Several market sources said that prices were still relatively high. The June ICE Brent futures were at $89.55/b on April 15, down $0.93/b since April 12.
