Due to a rise in crude oil prices, Asian
isomer-grade mixedxylene prices rose $25/mt on March 31 at $1.011/mt FOB Korea
and $1,033/mt CRU Unv1 respectively. They also rose $20.50/mt to $1,003/mt CFR
China on April 3. June ICE Brent crude oil futures
increased $6.21/b during Asian trade April 3. This prompted aromatics prices to
climb strongly. Paraxylene rose $22/mt per day to $1.124/mt CFR
unv1/China. The domestic prices in China also moved higher.
They were heard at Yuan 7,800/mt (roughly $973.50/mt if you use import-parity),
while they were around Yuan 7,760/mt or $968.40/mt for May. On a CFR
China basis, there was no activity. Participants
in the market said that gasoline blending was what most Asian MX sellers were
still looking at with strong gasoline fundamentals. A...
