The US polypropylene export levels remained
unchanged in the week ending May 17, despite sparse trade and persistently low
demand. On
May 15, a rail car price for homopolymer polypropylene was confirmed at 40
cents/lb or $1,003/mt FAS Houston. According
to the current market feedback, no new indications have been heard for
copolymer PP. The grade is priced at a 3-cent premium ($66/mt), compared to
homopolymer. The demand for durable goods
manufactured with PP was very low in the second quarter. According to one source, market players are waiting for June
resin offers. The supply has been greater
than the demand for most of the quarter. This leaves players with no incentive
