Spot methanol from the US Gulf Coast was
stable on April 3, despite few offers and no biddings. As the demand for spot
material has dried up, the spot price fell to its lowest level since September
2020. A source stated that everyone is
selling product, which is the main reason prices are so low. In the past few years, new methanol plants have been built.
With all this extra capacity, producers no longer need to sell to the spot
market. Southern Chemical Corporation has
set its North American methanol contract prices at 174c/gal for April. This is
