As supplies are scarce, Asian paraxylene
continues to rise in prices. Asian paraxylene is up daily at
$1.124/mt CFR UNV1/China April 3, the highest price since Oct. 11, when it was
valued at $1.128/mt. The April Asia Contract Price Settlement, which
was the first since March 2021, surprised market participants. On March 31,
the PX ACP for April settled at $1,085/mt CFR Asia. Shenghong,
a Chinese manufacturer of purified terephthalic acids, settled independently
with Exxon Mobil at $1.085/mt CFR Asia. Unv1's OPTC also settled at that price
with SK Geo Centric in South Korea and Exxon Mobil. This resulted in a
