The US Gulf Coast MTBE prices rose almost 6
cents February 28, aided by the underlying RBOB futures contracts. MTBE
was 325.73c/gal, an increase of 5.8 cents. The differential remained stable at NYMEX
April's RBOB plus 61.53c/gal. During February's Market on Close
assessment, 25,000 barrels were traded, compared to 125,000 barrels in January. February has
historically seen the lowest month for exports of MTBE, according to US customs
data going back to 2015. This is an increase of 75.5c/gal over
front-month NYMEX futures. This is up from 63.51c/gal in January. The outright
cost averaged 324.99c/gal in February, compared to 312.16 cents/gal back in
January.
