Price discussions on the Asian ethylene market were muted May 6 as many participants had just returned after their holidays. Some market sources reported that a public holiday in Japan also limited offers. Few and far between were firm bids and offers. Most participants preferred to stay on the sidelines and observe the direction of the market in the short-term before taking any further decisions. On a fixed price basis, selling indications ranged between $870 and $880/mt CFR Northeast Asia. Formula-based selling was at a premium of $10/mt CFR Northeast Asia. Buying signals were heard at $850/mt for CFR NE Asia, or at CFR NE Asia parity. The benchmark C+F Japan Naphtha was down 75 cents per day to $680.125/mt by the Asian close of May 6.
