Asian butadiene prices were steady day on
day March 1 amid thin price discussions and a bearish market. Trade sources
said downstream styrene-butadiene-rubber and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene
producers in northeast Asia had cut operating rates or stopped production
temporarily due to high feedstock butadiene prices. In China, buyers were not
willing to pay more than Yuan 9,000/mt ex-tank, though tradable levels were
around Yuan 9,300/mt ex-tanks, sources said. CFR China butadiene prices were
$20/mt lower week on week at $1,220/mt Feb. 28 and while that widened the CFR
China SBR-butadiene spread by $20/mt week on week to $430/mt Feb. 28, market
sources said it still was not conducive for Chinese SBR producers, as a spread
