African Polypropylene : High freight costs continue support the spot price / Limited trading activity at the month-end / Currency volatility impacts Nigerian demand

In the week ending July 31, there was little trading of spot cargos. CFR West Africa PP raffia Spot Price at $1,170/mt is up $10/mt from the previous week. The demand from buyers was soft in the last week of July. Many consumers continued to buy hand-to-mouth as they navigated low consumption levels by customers. Before taking positions, many participants awaited the announcement of fresh offers from suppliers for a new month. An Egyptian converter stated that "our demand is low". The weak demand put pressure on prices, but high freight costs helped to support CFR prices.
