West African polypropylene prices fell during the week ending September 4, due to a lack of trading and a surplus of supply. CFR West Africa PP raffia's spot price is $1180/mt down $10 from the previous week. The monsoon season and low buying interest in West Africa caused downward pressure on prices. Some suppliers dropped their offer prices in order to encourage buying. The PP copolymer market was the most affected, with a large spread between the bid and offer prices. Saudi Arabian producers were under pressure to reduce prices as the cost of propane feedstock increased and the freight rates for West Africa remained high. Saudi Aramco has set the contract price of propane for September at $605/mt. This is $15 more than the contract price in August. According...
