The African polypropylene industry was relatively quiet over the weekend of Feb. 19 due to a drop in demand in anticipation of Ramadan. CFR North Africa PP raffia Spot Price at $1100/mt was unchanged from the previous week. Buying interest dropped week-over-week across North and WestAfrica, as consumers expected consumption levels to fall in March due to the Muslim month of Ramadan. Sellers were ableto achieve higher pricesand healthier netbacks when selling to Morocco in comparison with Egypt, despite the overall softening of demand. The converter stated that "Demand is flat, and it usually falls when Ramadan begins." North Africa's supply was dominated by Middle East-sourced product. The availability of Saudi Arabian product was good, but reduced as Natpet continues to maintain its 400,000 mt/year Yanbu plant. Asian origin products...
