African Polyethylene : Gas Crisis in Egypt Curtails Production / HDPE blow molding is limited / Gas shortages affect Egyptian facilities

North African polyethylene was subdued during the week ending July 3, as downstream demand remained weak. CFR North Africa HDPE Film Spot Price remained unchanged at $1,140/mt for the week. In the first days in July, trading was very slow as converters bought hand-to-mouth due to a lack of demand from end consumers. Sources say that while HDPE blow molding was scarce in North African markets there were plenty of other grades available. Middle Eastern producers have announced new offer prices for the July loading. Prices are firmer than last month due to higher freight costs.
