Asian ACN: tighter supply drives prices up / Limited supply in Taiwan due to low inventories / Stable demand from Indian and Thai buyers

Due to a shortage of supply due to reduced availability, the price of acrylonitrile in Asia increased from week to week, Nov. 26. CFR Far East Asia was $1,220/mt while CFR Southeast Asia was $1,225/mt. According to sources on the market, Asian markets such as China, South Korea, and Taiwan are experiencing a shortage of supply due to a limited availability of spot supplies. The tighter supply in China is attributed to plant maintenance and lower operating rates due to technical problems. A major Taiwanese producer decided to not offer spot cargoes in December due to low inventories as the facility prepares to perform upcoming maintenance.
