Asian ACN: Prices hold stable amid higher China domestic prices / Supply tightness in China supports prices / Downstream demand remains weak

Asian acrylonitrile prices were stable week on week Nov. 5, with CFR Far East Asia and CFR Southeast Asia at $1,185/mt and at $1,195/mt, respectively, amid firm domestic prices in China. China domestic prices increased on the back of continued supply tightness arising from several ongoing plant maintenance and production issues, according to market participants. The market witnessed a notable decrease in outgoing parcels from China due to firmer domestic prices, a trader added. "China is experiencing a brief supply shortage, however, this phenomenon is transient as acrylonitrile production capacity is higher than domestic demand. Further, additional supplies will be available from new plants in coming months," a market participant said.
