Prices of Acrylonitrile in Fareast Asia, Southeast Asia and India fell to their lowest level in nine months in the week ending July 30. This was a fourth consecutive week-over-week price drop due to concerns about a lingering overhang in supply. The Asian market continues to see a large supply of competitively priced products from China. This has weighed on the sentiments of market participants. Sources said that FOB China was trading at between $1,100 and $1,150/mt during the week of July 30. Freight rates between China to Southeast Asia were $75-$100/mt. Buyers from the downstream acrylic fiber sector, however, are not urgently seeking cargoes due to its seasonal demand lull, while buying appetite from the acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene sector remained lukewarm, sources said.
