On Dec. 10, Asian acrylonitrile rose by $10/mt in a week, to $1,235/mt for Far East Asia, and $1240/mt for Southeast Asia, amid tightened market conditions following an unplanned closure of a South China production facility. "A South China production facility was unexpectedly shut down, causing a shortage of supplies." A distributor stated that supplies from Northeastern China were redirected in order to meet the demand in South China. On Dec. 10, it was reported that the prices in China had increased by a small amount week-on-week to Yuan 9,700-10,001/mt. The supply shortage will improve by the end of December or early January.
