As a result of the Market on Close process, a trade at a higher price was concluded. The Asian benzene price rose by $8/mt on May 3 to $1,042/mt. As of the Asian closing, the ICE Brent front-month futures contract had fallen 40 cents/b, and the C+F Japan mark for naphtha was down $8.625/mt/day at $680.875. As the Chinese market remains closed for Labor Day, limited discussions are heard during the trading session. A deal was reached during the MOC for a June loading FOB Korea cargo at $1,047/mt. The focus of the FOB Korea physical market remains on June- and Jul-loading laycans at fixed prices.
