In the week ended August 1, Asian acetic acids prices increased, while Asian vinyl monomer prices were stable amid low demand and a lackluster trade. In Jiangsu (China), domestic prices increased Yuan 150/mt in the past week, to Yuan 3,150/mt, ex-tank, on August 1. Sources said that offers were mostly around Yuan 2,000/mt and some deals ended at Yuan 3,150/mt. Sources said that domestic prices increased as producers stocked up for August turnarounds. On adjacent markets, CFR South Asia, at $400/mt was $5/mt more than the previous week, and FOB China, at $365/mt was $6/mt more. Fundamentals in the Asian vinyl-acetate monomer markets were negative due to capacity expansions and weak downstream demand.
