Asian Acetic Acid/VAM prices rise during pre-holiday stocking / Chinese AA stocks drop to 120,000-130,000 tonnes / Potential demand for SE Asia by mid-October

Low inventory and pre-holiday restocking supported acetic acid monomer and vinyl acetate prices in China on Sept. 26. China's market will be closed from October 1-7 due to its National Day holiday. Market sources reported that the acetic acid stock in China this week was between 120,000-130,000 mt. On Sept. 26, FOB China acetic acids were up $7/mt on the previous week, at $345/mt. Domestic AA prices also rose Yuan 75/mt on the previous week to Yuan 2,900/mt. The Chinese VAM market saw a surge in trading activity during the week ending Sept. 26. A deal was concluded for a cargo of ethylene-based VAM at Yuan 5,700/mt ex-tank, or $715/mt when viewed on an import parity basis.
