Prices for vinyl acetate monomer and acetic acid in Asia were mostly stable during the week ending August 22 due to a lack of trade. Market sources reported that domestic acetic acids were priced higher in China at Yuan 3,250-3300/mt, ex-tank, due to limited spot cargoes east China and tight supplies in north China. The price of FOB China cargoes to the Indian market remained the same at $370/mt on August 22. In the Far East Asian market for acetic acids, traders reported FOB China cargoes were sold at $360-$365/mt to some South Korean end users the week before.
