In the week ending October 24, Asian acetic acids prices were either stable or weaker due to low trading volume, while vinyl-acetate monomer prices were unchanged. Prices in China are being affected by excess AA production and capacity. Spot cargoes were being discussed at Yuan 2,680-2,800/mt, ex-tank. This is a Yuan 50/mt decrease or $7.03/mt from the previous week. FOB China offers to the Indian market are also lower than last week, in the range of $330-$340/mt, and below production costs. Market sources confirmed this. In Asia, VAM fundamentals are weak. Material was moving from China and South Korea into Southeast Asia, India, and Europe.
