Asia AA/VAM prices end stable amid thin trading / Acetic Acid Demand Lackluster / VAM sees sluggish adhesive, coating demand

The Asian acetic acids and vinyl acetate Monomer prices were mostly stable in the week of Jan. 28 compared to week prior, amid little discussion. Due to Lunar New Year, the assessments for Jan. 30 have been moved to Jan. 28. FOB China AA was stable at $345/mt week-on-week on a thin trade. Sources said that demand was low, and market participants heard acetic acids prices approaching production costs. A trader reported that a few Chinese EVA manufacturers who were producing low density polyethylene plan to switch to EVA because the margins are higher. On the Asian VAM markets, prices were stable in eastern China at Yuan 5,700-5800/mt.
