Acetic Acid: India's domestic ex-tank prices of acetic acids rose slightly during the week ending July 25. Offers were heard at around Rupee 36/kg in Kandla and Rupee37/kg in Mumbai. The slight gains in ex tank prices (by about Rupee 0.50-1 kg) are attributed to a reduction in port inventories as well as a rise in international prices. Sources said that the market was still under pressure from healthy port inventories as well as weak downstream demand. A market source stated that some traders expected the market to tighten in August because of turnarounds at certain China-based factories. The monsoon has impacted the demand.
