Asian Acetic Acid/VAM Prices Stable on Thin Trade / Limited supply and rising feedstock costs support China AA price / Bullish fundamentals prevail on the China VAM market

The market fundamentals for Asian vinyl acetate and acetic acid monomer markets were mostly unchanged on Dec. 12 due to weak demand. Discussions for January-loading cargoes on the Chinese acetic market were stable this week, at $300 to 310/mt FOB China. Market sources stated that producers were reluctant to sell at lower price points as the supply of export cargoes was dwindling, and feedstock methanol cost were increasing. FOB China acetic acids unchanged for the week at $305/mt on Dec. 12. The Asian VAM market had a low trading activity on Dec. 12, as the spot demand is winding down towards the end of the calendar year.
