According to sources, tighter supplies in Asia supported vinyl acetate monomer pricing during the week ending March 13 while Asian acetic acids prices fell due to lower purchasing power. The price of acetic acids in Jiangsu, China, fell by about Yuan 25-50/mt or $3.42 to $6.85/mt week-over-week, and now stands at Yuan 2,680-2,750/mt. After Guangxi Huayi Energy Chemical restarted their acetic acids units of 500,000 mt/year, and 700,000.mt/year, the market sentiment declined. According to market sources, acetic acid inventories in China were relatively high despite a 1.3% drop to 157,000 mt during the week ending March 13.
