The fundamentals of the Asian acetic and vinyl acetate markets were mostly unchanged on Nov. 7. Healthy production rates are weighing down Chinese AA values, while weak downstream demand is putting pressure on Chinese VAM prices. FOB China AA was unchanged for the week, at $318/mt. CFR China VAM remained stable at $755/mt. According to sources on the market, China's AA production capacity will reach 800,000 mt/year by 2024, and 1.5 million mt/year in mid-2025. At a major conference held in Singapore, some AA producers were preoccupied by term contract negotiations with methanol.
