In the week ending January 16, the Indian acetic market weakened amid mixed fundamentals. Prices for domestic ex-tanks were reported to be fluctuating between Rupees 39-39/kg in Kandla and Mumbai. Inventory levels were stable and expected to increase with the arrival of ships in the second half January. Some market sources, however, predicted that acetic acid would continue to rise in price into February. Market sources reported that the downstream ethyl anhydride market was lukewarm while acetic acetate prices improved slightly due to higher feedstock costs. A domestic producer reported that the demand for purified terephthalic acids was constant. The week of January 13 was a quiet one for spot trading. A cargo from Iran, destined for loading in late January or early February was offered between $410 and $415/mt....
