Asian ABS : High freight rates continue to limit deep sea cargo sales / Sellers Target Southeast Asia / Feedstock costs drop - Jun 22, 2024

Asian acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene prices edged lower June 19 with a weakening domestic China market. the ABS CFR China & CFR Southeast Asia Markers at $1,435/mt & $1,455/mt respectively, down $10/mt from the previous week. Input costs for feedstocks fell, mainly due to a weaker market for styrene. Calculations show that feedstock costs fell $45/mt, after increasing $32/mt the week before. Butadiene increased $50/mt from last week to $1500/mt F.O.B. China on June 19, while acrylonitrile remained stable at $1280/mt F.O.B. Fareast Asia as of the latest assessment June 18. Styrene monomer fell $45/mt to $1,138/mt CFR China June 19. A polymer trader stated that high container freights had effectively stopped sales of deep-sea cargoes.
