Asian ABS: Stable despite thin buy-sell discussion / CFR China to CFR SE Asia Spread Maintains at Plus $10/mt / China ABS operating rates drop on week

The Asian acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene markers were stable at $1,410/mt CFR China Jan. 22, and $1,400/mt CFR Southeast Asia, maintaining the spread with the CFR China assessment at plus $10/mt on week. Sources said that sellers were re-evaluating their previous offers as buyers remained apathetic due to high raw material prices. The butadiene CFR China mark was $1,440/mt in the upstream market on January 22, an increase of $80/mt compared to the ABS's last assessment on January 15, and the acrylonitrile CFR Far East Asia mark was $1,300/mt, up $20/mt compared to the ABS's previous assessment. Butadiene futures are strong in China, which is in line with market sentiment. The domestic market was stable, with few trades.
