Asia AA/VAM : Down on the back of a bearish sentiment and low Chinese domestic numbers / AA Prices Near Production Cost / Weak EVA downstream demand

Prices for vinyl acetate and acetic acid monomers in Asia were mixed on October 10. Sources say that despite slightly higher prices due to China's fiscal stimuli announcement before the Golden Week holidays and a lackluster demand, prices remained unchanged. Acetic acid was priced at a level close to its production costs. No deals were found, but some cargoes from China were offered to the area. The Asian VAM market is a quiet one. A VAM manufacturer said that the demand for downstream ethylene Vinyl Acetate was low in China. Sources said that the majority of production remained at 70%-80% unchanged from last week. The medium grade EVA (18-21%) was assessed at $1.110/mt CFR China.
