Prices for Asian vinyl acetate and acetic acids were mostly lower on Sept. 5, due to weak demand and large inventories. This was especially true for acetic Acid. FOB China acetic acids destined for India were priced at around $350/mt. East China acetic acid prices were around Yuan 2,900/mt, Yuan 150/mt less than the previous week. The Asian VAM saw a muted trading activity on Sept. 5. A producer in China said that most downstream ethylene vinyl-acetate was facing weak demand, and instead produced low density polyethylene. Due to restocking, the ethylene-based prices of VAM in east China rose by Yuan 50/mt over the past week, to Yuan 5.450/mt. The carbide-based prices also increased by Yuan 50/mt.
