25 000 barrels sold for 406 cents/gal, DDP Lake Charles / May shipment Crude Oil Values Fall

On May 14, the benzene market was more active. Approximately 25,000 barrels were reported to have been sold at 406 cents/gal, DDP Lake Charles for shipment in May. No confirmation was received regarding freight costs between Lake Charles, Louisiana and the USG Coast. However, previous sales that were concluded further inland are believed to have traded at a slight discount over the US Gulf Coast. Some sales have been reported to have ended between 403-406 Cents/gal DDP-USG. However, no other information was disclosed. One source said, "I would be surprised" when asked about the validity of these transactions. The demand for fresh benzene has been low of late. Buyers have shown little interest in purchasing large volumes. The confirmed business at Lake Charles has not helped to support the market....
