Weak buyer demand led to a drop in prices
on the European oxoalcohol market in the week ending May 18. According to market
sources, seasonal demand increases have yet to be seen in all three segments of
oxo alcohol. In the second quarter,
construction demand for 2-ethyl-hexanol (n-butanol) and isobutanol usually
increases. This segment has been affected
by macroeconomic factors, including high inflation. Both the spot and contractual markets were sluggish, with
the slowing orders on the latter market causing concern amongst players. A producer stated that there has been no increase in Q2
