Prices of Acrylonitrile in South Asia rose during the week ending September 17 due to tighter supply and increased discussion levels. South Asia has seen a price increase after over four months. ACN CFR South Asia was assessed at $1,355/mt last April 30, up $5/mt from the previous week. Material availability is tightening, according to sources. Buyers are worried about delivery due the Bureau of Indian Standards certifications that will be implemented on October 24 and limited supply from a local supplier. India extended its deadline to implement mandatory Bureau of Indian Standards certificates for ethylene vinyl-acetate copolymers until Oct. 3, and for acrylonitrile (vinylbenzene), styrene and maleic anhydride, to Oct. 24, on March 18.
