R-PET pellets of food grade increased $5/mt on the week to $1,350/mt on Nov. 20. R-PET clear flake prices remained unchanged. Market sources were worried about the current market conditions, even though they described the prices as stable. Sources claim that higher feedstock costs have led to higher prices for flakes, which has resulted in a lower demand. Another source stated that the European and US market remained weak because of low seasonal demand, and volatile virgin PET price. A trader also said that the R-PET Pellets trading activity was also thin. He attributed this to the end of year cycle. The exporter stated that buyers are negotiating despite the fact that material is flowing. A quiet week saw no new information on current bale prices.
