South Asian acrylonitrile prices firmed up in the week leading up to September 24 due to tighter supply and increased discussion. Sources said that tighter availability of materials and concerns about the Bureau of Indian Standards certifications expected to be implemented on October 24 have increased price discussions. India extended the March 18 deadline for implementing mandatory BIS certifications to October 3 for ethylene vinyl-acetate copolymers and to October 24 for acrylonitrile (vinylbenzene), styrene and maleic anhydride. A trader reported that domestic market prices were also on the rise, with some material being discussed at over $1,500/mt. "It is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain material.
