The South Asia acrylonitrile markets weakened in the week ending Aug. 13 due to persistently low demand. ACN CFR South Asia fell $10/mt in the past week to $1,210/mt August 13. Sources say that the level of discussion in India continues to decline, while material availability remains largely stable. A trader who shared similar views said that deals above $1,200/mt were less likely to be heard on the current market. Sources said that the downstream acrylic market, which is a major ACN demand detractor, continues to struggle due to poor demand for end products and cheaper imported materials.
