The price of Acrylonitrile in South Asia increased in the week ending Oct. 15, amid more discussions and concerns about the upcoming implementation of Bureau of Indian Standards Certifications. The rise in prices, according to sources, is due to the uncertainty surrounding future material availability with Bureau of Indian Standards certifications scheduled for October 24. India extended its deadline to implement mandatory BIS certifications to October 3 for ethylene vinyl-acetate copolymers and to October 24 for acrylonitrile (vinylbenzene), styrene, and maleic anhydride on March 18. Most sellers have higher selling and offer ideas of $1,250-1,300/mt. One trader stated that the trading range had increased to $1.200-$1,225/mt.
