Asia: PVC import markets remain stable due to current discussions / Dalian PVC futures fall Yuan 65/mt DOD / Taiwan's FPC will shut down its plant for two weeks of maintenance starting in mid-March

The Asian PVC price was stable during the week ending February 26. This was due to an overall steady level of discussion. China's PVC Futures dropped, with the most actively-traded May futures at Yuan 5,167/mt down Yuan 65/mt from day to day on February 26. PVC based on ethylene is $720/mt, CFR China. This price has remained stable from week to week. A company source revealed that Taiwan's Formosa Plastics Corp. will take its 550,000 mt/year polyvinylchloride plant in Renwu in Kaoshiung for two weeks of planned maintenance in mid-March. A company source said that the producer hopes to restart the plant before the end of the month. LG Chem, of South Korea, plans to close its Daesan PVC plant that produces 240,000 mt/year in April.
