- Additional support from upstream gains- The
demand remains exceptional

Spot European benzene prices rose on April
3, following increases in upstream crude oil prices and talk about a decreasing
supply. A trader stated that the market is
shorter than it was before. He added that crackers in Europe were shifting to
lighter feedstocks which produce less aromatics products. Although
supply was increasing, the demand was not exceptional. A stronger
trend in benzene prices was also supported by higher crude oil values. According to
a market source, this upstream increase could lead to a greater demand for
benzene derivatives. Eurobob gasoline values have been maintained over $800-820/mt
FOBAR.
