Spot European acrylonitrile prices fell in the week ending Dec. 14, as spot activity slowed ahead of year-end. One source said that most demand was being met by contracts. ACN production margins were being impacted by strong ammonia and propylene prices upstream. Last week, European propylene prices reached record highs following an outage at Dow’s Terneuzen facility toward the end of November. According to market sources, Dow had shut down its cracker operations due to steam supply problems. Terneuzen saw only two crackers. Dow has not yet commented. Dow has not yet commented.
