- Week: Feedstock benzene falls- Market discussion thin

Due to the negative margins of producers
and slow nylon demand, Asian caprolactam markets saw little activity in the
week up to June 9. CFR Far East Asia caprolactam, which is available at $2,190-2,220/mt,
was valued at $10-15/mt, while Southeast Asia caprolactam, which was valued at
$5-6/mt, was assessed at $2,215-2,245/mt, on June 9. The discussions were
sparse and most producers were supplying materials to meet the previous month's
needs. But nylon demand was significantly lower. One buyer stated that recycled
nylon margins seemed to be more stable than those made from caprolactam. China
received an offer of $2,240-2,280/mt. However, details were not available. Upstream,
benzene prices fell, with the FOB Korea marker at $1451.67-1480.25/mt, down $10-15/mt
over the previous day.
