The US methanol price rose on the week
despite low buying interest and no trades or bids. Prices dropped to 106 cents/gal on Sept. 2, 2
cents lower than the previous week. Market participants confirmed this early in
the week. The day's prices remained stable as buyers'
interest was muted. Spot methanol for September and October was
steady at 106c/gal FOB USG, respectively. However, there were higher offers
made on the day. Spot buying interest is still low, according to
one source. "Spot doesn't equal no demand or lack of demand in the US
market, so a shortage of spot deals does not necessarily mean no demand or lack
