Asian paraxylene dropped $3.75-4.50/mt to
$992.58-1010.50/mt CFRUnv1/China. The declines in upstream liquidity weighed on
the market. However, the demand for paraxylene was largely dampened by a
slowdown in finished goods facilities, logistics problems, and a decrease in
demand. A trader stated that the typical
winter lull in textile manufacturing would lead to some finished goods
facilities being closed earlier than usual. This would impact the polyester
trade over the next weeks. The operating rates of polyester
plants were estimated at 78.23% on Nov. 10. This puts great pressure on
downstream producers because it is difficult to pass production costs onto
